Long-awaited update and photos

I've just returned from a trip to the USA for my brother David's wedding. It was a beautiful ceremony. I will post some pictures from the wedding shortly (as soon as I figure out how!).
In three weeks, I hit Massachusetts, New York, Indiana and Georgia. Despite the travels, it was a wonderful and much-needed time of rest.
These are some pictures from summer camp. Sorry, some of them are a bit small. If you're on my mailing list, you should have just received a snail-mail newsletter from me. Please continue praying with me for these students.
After camp, we had a one-week team retreat to develop strategies for future evangelism and church planting in Hungary. It was an inspiring time, and very intensive. Immediately following, I left for the USA. Unfortunately, I was not able to post while there. I'm glad to be back in Budapest, recovering from jet-lag, and ready to jump back in.

I Believe in Miracles!

It's 10PM, and camp kicks off tomorrow with a few days of staff orientation. The students arrive on Monday. When I started directing camps in 2003, I was beside myself for months with stress. Each year has gotten better as I learn to trust God more. This year has been really something else. I've felt relatively little stress. And tonight, the night before we leave, I arrived home at 7 PM (not 11) and I am sitting at the computer finishing a few things with my suitcase packed, eating chocolate ice cream. We are ready. I'm quite peaceful. God is so good to me! He has made this change in me - I didn't do it.
I haven't written any e-mails lately because of a virus, but the problem is resolved now on my computer. The office is another story.... I will be writing with news in about 2 weeks. Please keep praying for us! God answers prayer!

Countdown to Camp - 17 days

Sunrise: 4:46AM
Sunset: 8:39PM
Thank you for praying with us and for us! The team here is greatly encouraged. The English curriculum is about 95% done. The Bible lessons are still in process, but moving along well. There are now 24 kids registered for the first camp and 5 for the second. Keep praying about this. We know that every student who has ever come to one of our camps was brought by God, and we trust Him to bring the students who need to be there. Pray for the orientation time June 28 to July 2, that it will be effective for preparation and team-building.
My Saturday afternoon kids club has finished for the spring. We'll start again in September. I still have two more English lessons with my teenagers group.
Check out the new links at the bottom of the page!

A Day of Prayer

This Thursday, May 31, will be a day of prayer and fasting for OMS Hungary's two 2-week English camps. Orientation Days for the first camp start in less than 30 days. Would you consider joining us?
Please pray for the following:
-For many students to register. At this writing, only 19 are registered for the kids camp and 2 for the teens camp.
-For God to prepare the hearts of the staff, both Hungarian and foreign, to serve at camp and show the love of Jesus.
-For those who are writing the curricula - a monumental task, not yet finished. Pray that the curricula would be effective in teaching English and in pointing young people to God.
-For the logistical details of planning and carrying out the camps.
-For a great harvest!

Welcome to my blog!

Hello everyone!
I have finally managed to join the 21st century and create a blog! I hope that this will enable us to keep in touch more consistently.
It's noonish on Saturday, and I have nothing scheduled, but a million things to do. Hanging on the wall in front of me are charts of Hungarian verb conjugations, possessive conjugations, and imperative tense conjugations. It seems that they conjugate everything in this language!
The weather's gorgeous today, and I'll head out for some exercise a little later.
At this time of year, summer camp is foremost in my mind. Check out our camp website at www.tdimaging.com/angoltabor.htm Sorry, it's all in Hungarian :-)
As I'm able, I'll be adding pictures, fun facts about Hungary, maybe some not-so-fun facts, news items, up-to-date prayer requests, and more. Stay tuned!
